Seahawks head into 'House of Horrors'
Seattle revisits its AFC West roots, starting with a visit to Kansas City
KIRKLAND -- Just mention Kansas City to Steve Largent and the Hall of Fame wide receiver laughs.
Not a ha-ha laugh, but one of those uncomfortable laugh-so-you-don't-cry chuckles.
"Kansas City," Largent said this week. "We always had a tough time in Kansas City, even when we were good. We were 12-2 one year (1984) and went into Kansas City and they beat us up pretty good (34-7).
"It's just a really tough place to play."
Especially for the Seahawks. Arrowhead Stadium always has been their own House of Horrors, and that's where they play Sunday to kick off a reunion tour against their old AFC West rivals...
...When you play a team twice a year, for all those years, you get to know your competitors better. Even on a personal level," Largent said. "So in some respects, although it may sound odd, it takes away a little of that animosity feel.
"But it didn't take away any of the intensity. In fact, it might have enhanced it."
