Bubby Brister to Damon Huard- No time to Chill !!

Damon Huard said in his news conference:
"I haven't played a whole lot in recent years," he added. "To get out there and play the game, sure, it's an opportunity. But the circumstances aren't that great. I'd feel better if I was going in for Trent because he'd rolled his ankle."

Well, in case you too were wondering, Bubby Brister of the Pittsburgh Steelers had some advice for his fellow former backup brother. He too, of course, has had a similar recent resurection, the result of the team number one going down.

"The only advice I would have for him going against the Broncos, who have just come off a loss and are playing at Mile High, is wear a few extra pads and double-buckle your chinstrap." said Bubby Brister, was once the backup to John Elway, remember those days?
Remember, that he went 4-0 as a starter in 1998, the year of the Broncos' last Super Bowl. Hey Damon, be ready. "It's going to be tough." said Brister.

It has been well publicized that Huard hasnt started a game in six years. He is however 5-1 in his career starts so there is a potential win here. You gotta ask yourself though does he have any potential to remain in the starting spot should Trent have sustained a condition with moderate to long term risk of damage? Is he only starting this week because Brodie Croyle needs more time to develop? Is he being used again on an interim basis, between Greens' recovery and Croyles maturity in the Chiefs football system?

Backup quarterbacks usually form in one of two classes. Some college stars are drafted to forever remain backups. Remember Steve Spurrier, Jason Garrett, Terry Hanratty, or Koy Detmer, Gary Kubiak, Babe Laufenberg? These are/were all stars quarterbacks at their alma maters. Honestly though they were drafted as backups from the beginining. Is Damon along with his brother Brock destined to remain forever a backup as well? Will he become a late bloomer, one of a rare breed, to join late the other number one's including recently Vince Cutler and Arizona's Matt Leinart, Tennessee's Vince Young and Green Bay's Aaron Rodgers all who are being groomed to become future number one quarterbacks?

Damon. Come on dude. Sunday, Invesco, Colorado is your stage, it is your best shot with all the starters on your team! Resurect your career... Make it your Milestone at the Mile High City! Go on. Give it your best shot!

Hey, Brock will be wartching too! Go for it!
