The Saints went Marching Down... Good "D" Guys!

Actually the Saints made a game of it. Thanks to the failed two point try the Chiefs held on to win! Meanwhile, many of those Kansas City Star writers were decrying the boredom of the game. Many were telling of the disappointments, the failures and the melancholy that apparently nearly overwhelmed them, had them nearly asleep at their laptops.

I saw a different game. The youngsters gave and gave, unending effort, not always showing in yards. Many of the kids knew this would be their last NFL game and left it all on the field! Yes, there was sloppy play, there is supposed to be in game four of the preseason. That did not deter most of them from working hard, from keeping their focus, from overcoming inadequacies to hold on for the win. As Chiefs coach Herm Edwards would say, that was an ugly win. 10-9, hey, It wasnt a loss!

So many people played well, for some it was expected, for others it was better than expected. Brodie Croyle to Jeff Webb, all night, thanks grandma!!! Yeah! Whatabout, Hey, That goal line defense, it should be taped for the training reels! Some other major achievers for the game included K Fox, he made four unassisted tackles! Jimmy Wilkerson made four solos as well, then threw in a sack for good measure. Jarrad Page contributed five more unassisted! They dont keep track of ALL the stats, on the hurries and the broken passes, they dont measure the impact of those hits in mph... or the ability to stop a key drive. All was well at Arrowhead. Some writer/fans are just spoiled. Statistically, Kris Griffin was undoubtably a sparkplug, he got five tackles, four of which were solo, then a key interception to stall an important drive. No one wrote about those efforts, mentioned these guys and their work! Well maybe the interception, one line.

Runningbacks showed themselves well too. Mackenzi Smith put up ALOT of pretty quality reps. Michael Bennett did too yes, but he was followed to by a young kid named Ross from wherever, Long Beach State, is that what I heard? Both were very very fine performances. For the evening, these guys were compling yards and even completing drives at times.
So I watched an entertaining game. It looked like everyone who was out there, had fun out there.
Kudos boys, good luck to you all, go forth and multiply!

(Hey didnt Ryan Sims get a sack one time, or possibly... just monster pressure! Good job Ryan!)
